The MUST List. Long live The Minimalists.
In my desperate search for enlightenment, and some small sign that I'm not completely screwing up my life, I stumbled upon The Minimalists. Two guys who went from corporate to (eventually) creative, they discuss focusing on those things that truly matter. While not a total convert, I was intrigued by the idea of trimming the fat and rethinking what's important. That changes from person to person, of course, but in an attempt to continue my life-cleanse, I decided to give their 21 day journey a shot. Besides, moving to greener pastures is the perfect time to get rid of STUFF. Seriously though, who needs five hats in slight variations of beige and a bell that says "dream" on it? ::Head shaking has commenced::
I'm not going to bore you with my entire journey here. You'll be much better off following Joshua and Ryan. But I am going to share with you my MUST list that I have been compelled to make. These are the things that are important to me. These are the things that need to be in my life in order for me to feel like I'm not wasting the time I've stolen.
I MUST do one creative thing each day
I MUST exercise 3x each week
I MUST shed the material things that I don't need or that don't hold immense sentimental value
I MUST learn to grow my own food
I MUST invest in my relationships
I MUST eat one healthy thing at every meal
I MUST meditate each night before bed
I MUST work smarter, not harder
I MUST listen to my body and give it what it needs
I MUST give myself one compliment each day
I MUST be grateful for what I have
I MUST write every day
